A feasibility study was conducted in conjunction with an End-to-End Process Analysis study to help The Advocate determine the benefits of a new facility and improve packaging efficiency at its Bluebonnet facility.
Austin AECOM worked with a cross-functional team to evaluate options for meeting the newspaper’s facility and equipment needs relevant to future growth. Using Austin AECOM’s site-selection services, The Advocate identified an existing office facility as the potential home for the newspaper’s operations. The current plan includes utilization of 90,000-sq-ft on four of the six floors in the facility.
To sustain a productive work environment for employees during the feasibility planning study, Austin AECOM conducted an End-to-End study uncovering change opportunities that eliminated 43 minutes from the operation and resulted in significant cost savings. The study also helped the newspaper establish implementation priorities and define strategies for optimizing performance from prepress to doorstep.
The Advocate commissioned Austin AECOM to plan, program and design the new production facility and to assist the newspaper in defining, procuring and integrating new equipment. The production facility opened in November 2006. |
