The Journal Star's 66,000-square-foot facility expansion enabled the newspaper to better accommodate its growing circulation and increasingly complex product needs. The two-story addition houses a new press hall, mailroom and expanded support areas.
The press hall has been designed to accommodate six color towers and an eight-web MAN Roland GEOMAN press. Enhanced press capabilities will improve overall operational performance and speed, in additional to increasing color capacity.
The expansion will also allow the newspaper to utilize some vacated space for future office use.
Austin AECOM’s design-build approach has helped the Journal Star meet its goals for a cost- and time-efficient project. The project was completed in the third quarter of 2004, just 16 months after groundbreaking. |
